RECYCLING

In

the ongoing effort to preserve our environment, the Surplus Exchange

operates an electronics recycling operation in the lowest level of the

building. This department disassembles non-working electronic items for

scrap.

Metals, plastics,

circuit boards, and other recyclables are sold in the appropriate markets

to divert them from the waste stream and provide some revenues to

supplement the Exchange’s daily operations.

Computer monitors,

televisions, photo copiers and other items deemed environmentally

hazardous are processed through companies that specialize in hazardous

electronics deconstruction. The Surplus Exchange collects a nominal

processing fee for these items.
