The

environment also benefits because much of what The Surplus Exchange

collects would have ended up in local landfills.

Some 1100 tons are diverted from the local waste stream annually.

The

Surplus Exchange, Inc. was founded in 1984 to serve as a clearinghouse for

donated office furniture and equipment to charities.  Today, The Surplus Exchange serves as a national model for

connecting the abundance of business communities with the needs of

non-profit organizations, all while helping to preserve the environment.

Surplus

Exchange has a membership of over 1,400 agencies, schools, and

congregations.  The

organization provides hundreds of thousands of dollars in low cost, high

quality furniture and equipment to area charities, helping them to retain

more of their funds for the people they serve.
